Top Ten Tuesday

Dream Jobs

Back when I was an innocent child, I dreamt of “working” on different fields. It ranges from being an Astronaut, Archaeologist, Construction Worker, a Farmer, a Journalist and even being a Doctor despite me hating blood. Why am I telling you this? Well, because my friend, this week’s Top Ten Tuesday prompt is all about those Characters Whose Job I Wish I Had. It made me a bit nostalgic.

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

Note: I would be talking about characters from books, movie, series, anime or maybe games.

Professor Minerva McGonagall from The Harry Potter series

Out of all the subjects at Hogwarts, I have to say that Transfiguration is what caught my attention. Also because I just like Professor McGonagall. Realistically speaking, I just want to be a Professor as good as McGonagall, stern and yet still loved and respected by her students. She reminds me of one of my lovely teacher back in high school.

Professor Minerva McGonagall played by Dame Maggie Smith

Andrea Sachs from The Devil Wears Prada

I am talking about Andy in the movie and not the one in the book. I hate that Andy in the book. Moving on! Andy was aiming to be a journalist before she became  Miranda Priestly’s Junior assistant. I’m glad that in the end of the movie, Andy decided to pursue her dream. As mentioned above, I used to (and sometimes still think) want to be a journalist specifically for The Philippines Daily Inquirer. But I have to admit, being an Editor-in-chief like Miranda is awesome too.

Andrea Sachs played by Anne Hathaway

Sara Howard from the Kreizler series by Caleb Carr

Note that I will be basing it on The Alienist series on Netflix instead of the book. From being a secretary for the NYPD (and only female employee in NYPD) to being a private detective in 1890s New York City. Sara is an example of a strong and independent woman which is worth admiring. Enough said.

Sara Howard played by Dakota Fanning

Olivia Moore from the iZombie series

Aside from me genuinely being fascinated of the whole medical examiner job, I really like Liv’s work environment. Ok, I am not talking about the police morgue but her co-workers. Her boss Dr. Ravi Chakrabarti and Detective Clive Babineaux. I really like their work and character dynamics. It is part of the reason why I love rewatching the series.

From left to right: Clive Babineaux played by Malcolm Goodwin, Ravi Chakrabarti played by Rahul Kohli and Liv Moore played by Rose McIver

Umetarou Nozaki from Monthly Girl’s Nozaki-kun

Imagine being a young mangaka and having your friends be your co-workers. The usual work day must be both stressful and fun. To be honest, the reason why I like the idea of Liv’s and Nozaki’s working environment is because I have yet to experience it in my life. I am projecting. Sad, I know.

That is all. I can’t really think of any other characters. If you have a Top Ten Tuesday post, feel free to leave a link to it in the comments. I would love to read it!

Thank you so much for reading. I’ll talk to you again this Thursday for an Anime Chat! Keep safe!
