I was not planning to watch this anime. I am quite sick of isekai anime and I feel like there is nothing much to see since they usually have the same theme. My cousin said that this one is a bit different. I was bullied by my cousin to watch this when he found out that I haven’t and I am not planning to do so. I gave in. So, le fiancé and my cousin decided to re-watch the season 1 and season 2 part 1 with me last week. The deal is that I can stop watching whenever I want or if I find the anime boring. Well, I finished it and I am now looking forward to watching part 2.

So, what is with Rimeru Tempest that changed my mind?

Well, let us begin with what this anime is about.

Like the usual isekai as of late, this involves an ordinary 37 year old man named Satoru Mikami who was stabbed by and unknown man. Satoru passes out and when he regains his consciousness inside a cave, he finds out that he is now a tiny slime in an unknown world. Despite him being a slime, he at least has one skill called “Predator”. “Predator” is a skill that allows him to eat and mimic all the things he has eaten.

After getting used to being a slime and just eating everything in sight using “Predator”, he stumbles upon a a sealed “Storm Dragon” named Veldora Tempest. Satoru befriends Veldora and in exchange Veldora gave him the name Rimuru Tempest thus prompting Satoru’s first evolution and giving him the skill “Magic Perception”. Feeling sorry for Veldora, Rimuru decided to use “Predator” to store Veldora inside his slime body, promising to let Veldora go once the seal is broken.

With these two new skills, Rimuru went out of the cave to explore the world outside, or just the Great Jura Forest as of late. He stumbles upon a group of goblins being harassed by a group of wolves. Rimuru helped the goblins and by slaying the wolves’ alpha, he managed to make the two groups join together and help each other instead. The two groups accepted his offer and made Rimuru their leader. To avoid confusion, he decided to name everyone prompting all goblins and wolves to evolve. This is when Rimuru finds out that naming a monsters in this world requires magicules and naming a monster will cause them to evolve.

To be honest, I am still confused about the whole naming thing. Despite me quite enjoying Rimuru’s evolution from a slime to a demon lord as off season 2 part 1, there is still something bugging me. I still want to know why someone stabbed Satoru and why in the world was he reincarnated? All the Otherworlders present in his current world are all summoned by someone. So, what are the chances of Satoru being reincarnated as a slime in that world?

Moving on, the story was actually quite entertaining and the anime didn’t have much filler episodes. Season 1 has a solid ending and despite having two parts, season 2 part 1 has some sufficient story progression and can actually stand as a normal season.

I think this is the reason why I liked this anime. I didn’t feel like the story was skimped. Each episodes aren’t boring or useless since each one is at least relevant to the main story.

As for the characters, there is just too many of them. And I am bad at remembering names so the only ones I can remember are Rimuru, Veldora, Shion, Ranga , Diablo and Gobta. If you are familiar with the characters in this anime, you can see how few of them I know. I can feel you judgement. I accept it.

Despite being powerful, Rimuru maintains his humbleness throughout the story. He still cares abut everyone around him especially the monsters living in Tempest Country. Which, I have to say, still fascinate me that the tiny goblin village located in the Great Jura Forest turned into an actual country thanks to Rimuru and his allies.

I just want to mention that there are a few eye candies in this anime but there is no harem and I am so happy. One of the reasons why I was avoiding this anime is because I thought that there might be a harem involve. And I am annoyed by that shit. The last harem anime I enjoyed was Ranma 1/2 and I am not planning to add more to the list.

If you are not sick of the entire isekai genre and you haven’t watch this one, go and watch it.

What about you? What do you think of this anime?

That is it for now. Thanks so much for reading and I’ll talk to yu soon!
