Top Ten Tuesday

Changing My Mind

Hello there and welcome to a Top Ten Tuesday freebie post!

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January 2018. It was born of a love of lists, books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

In the middle of me brainstorming what the hell I am going to write for this freebie, I noticed one of the Youtubers I follow shared an Instagram story about the book A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas. She mentioned how much she enjoyed said book and that she immediately bought the second book.

Since 2022 started, she is, if I’m not mistaken, the 4th influencer I am following who read and loved ACOTAR. And like anyone, I was influenced by the influencer and I thought of finally giving in and reading that book.

That got me thinking. Is there any other book/s that, once upon a time, I refused to read but something changed and now I want to read it?

Yes, this is my freebie. Today I am going to share with you guys the books that I refused to read before but I want to read now. Let’s start.

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas

I told you that those influencers really influenced me. I’m still debating whether I should buy a physical or digital copy.

“Feyre’s survival rests upon her ability to hunt and kill – the forest where she lives is a cold, bleak place in the long winter months. So when she spots a deer in the forest being pursued by a wolf, she cannot resist fighting it for the flesh. But to do so, she must kill the predator and killing something so precious comes at a price …” Goodreads

The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare

I’ve read the first two books in this series. I liked the first book but I think I hated either the second book or the third one. I can’t remember. But since le fiance really likes this series, I want to give this another try. I just have to wait for him since he is looking for a particular set.

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern

I read this book recently and this is one of those books that an influencer, well, influenced me to finally read. You can check my full book review for this one here: Book Review- The Night Circus

The Brown Sisters by Talia Hibbert

I remember liking the first book a bit but not really that invested to read the other books. But when the third book was published, I was intrigued. So, I guess I will give this series a try.

Here is the link to my full book review for the first book in the series: Book Review- Get a Life, Chloe Brown by Talia Hibbert

Blood And Ash by Jennifer L. Armentrout

When I first saw this book, I was not planning on reading another one from the fantasy genre. But then I saw that a fourth book was released last month and I have to admit, I am now curious. I just finished Muse of Nightmares and I think it’s time for a new fantasy book.

Shades of Magic by V.E. Schwab

Speaking of fantasy, this book. I’ve been avoiding this book for God knows how long but a friend of mine (Hello Vim!), sorta convinced me to give this book a try.

There you go! Those are the books and series that are now on my TBR list. I’m still not sure which one I’ll read first since I already have a full list of books for Q2. Let’s see.

How about you? Are there any books or books series that you are not interested in before but decided to read now?

Thank you so much for reading! Time to focus on work.

Have a good rest of the workweek and I’ll talk to you again this Thursday!

      1. I will happily tell you, but it will definitely come across as mean-spirited towards the book and I promise I don’t mean it that way.

FBAA felt like the author had basically hodge-podged all their favorite fantasy romance novels into her own without changing anything. Just c/p whatever they liked and wrote a plot around it. (Please note that as far as I know there is no PLAGERISM, just copied character styles.) The main love interest is Rhys from ACOTAR with like…maybe one thing changed.

Not to mention that nothing happens in the first book for the first 3/4 of the book. And I don’t mean that in an exaggerated way, I literally mean not a gosh-darn thing happens. There’s basically no world-building or explanation of anything. The main character is exhaustingly stupid, too.

That being said — it’s beloved by a lot of people, so you may not have these issues with it!

      2. ACOTAR is the safer bet, in my personal opinion! I hope you enjoy it — and if you find you don’t like the first book, I can PROMISE the second book is infinitely better.

  1. haha!! This is a very fun list! I really enjoyed A Darker Shade of Magic and ACOTAR. From Blood and Ash is entertaining but it has it’s issues. I still enjoyed the three I’ve read!

    My Top Ten!
