Book: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J.K. Rowling
Genre: Fantasy Fiction
In comparison to the first three books of this series, this is the first time I read this book. I am familiar with the movie version, of course. Before I continue, this is what this book is about;
Harry Potter is midway through his training as a wizard and his coming of age. Harry wants to get away from the pernicious Dursleys and go to the International Quidditch Cup. He wants to find out about the mysterious event that’s supposed to take place at Hogwarts this year, an event involving two other rival schools of magic, and a competition that hasn’t happened for a hundred years. He wants to be a normal, fourteen-year-old wizard. But unfortunately for Harry Potter, he’s not normal – even by wizarding standards. And in his case, different can be deadly. (Goodreads)
The story, for me, started a bit weak then gain a bit of momentum around the chapter in regards to the Quidditch World Cup, then it halted. I have to admit, it was my curiosity that helped push through the chapters since I am already familiar with the story. After almost ten chapters, the story started to be a bit more interesting then it slowly dies down again. It was at that point that I kept noticing how annoying Ron and Harry has been acting. I tried to ignore it and kept reminding myself that they are just acting the same way as any typical 14 year old boy. It was a good thing that the last eight chapters where interesting enough, that I didn’t even noticed that I was nearing the end of the book.( yes, I was checking the book while writing this review)
It was nice reading more about the characters. It was like seeing everything in a whole different angle. The only issue I have with this, is that there are a lot of things going on with the story, to the point that it’ll be hard to keep track of things. I kept thinking that if I happened to read it back when I was a teen, I would 100% read this in a slower pace, and will occasionally choose playing DOTA instead of reading. Having that in mind, I am glad that I decided to read the series this year. The present me appreciated the story more than the past me might.
The book ended up in a darker point, and I have to say that I am looking forward to reading more. If only I manage to find the fifth book. Pesky book stores.
That is all guys. Thank you for reading. I trust that majority of you guys have read this book. What do you think of it? Let me know.
Have a great day, and I’ll talk to you on my next post.

I really enjoyed this book, I recently re-read the entire series. The film is one of my favourites but I wish that Dobby was in the films as much as he’s in the books!

I agree, I didn’t know that Dobby was actually in this book. I also found Winky’s story quite interesting as well.

Yes, I wish that Winky made it into the films! Kreacher comes more into the story later on in the books too. They just should have included all of the house elves in the films more

True! I really liked the significance of Winky in this book.😣 It would have been awesome to see some of her scenes, but it is too late now.

I feel the same way while reading the series, Harry and Ron are actually more annoying in the books then the movies- it made me realize how the movie tone down a lot of things!

True, I didn’t find Ron annoying in the movie version, but reading this? Ugh. I just want to smack him with a book.

Yes! Everytime the order tried to protect him, even Hermione in her know-it-all way, Ron just “NO WHY SHOULD YOU LISTEN TO THEM JUST DO IT” and put Harry in danger -_-

That is why Ron is my least favorite character.😣

This book was pretty fun because of the Triwizard challenges and the realisation for readers that Ron (subconsciously) has feelings for Hermione, but I agree with Em (above) that they should have included Dobby and Winky’s storyline and SPEW in the film.

Yes, I totally forgot about Ron’s realisation, only because I was just so annoyed with how he’s acting towards both Hermione and Harry.😣

Ron is pretty insecure… but he is a good friend, on the whole, and incredibly warm and supportive.
